Hey folks...we've been busy being on vacation instead of sitting down to write the blobs, errr, blogs, so the next couple of posts will be picture oriented instead of the other way around. We hope you enjoy the views!
We arrived at Crete with the best of intentions...Hollywood would be attending a 4 week course to earn his English teaching certificate so he could spread the English language around the world. I had less grand ideas...namely, learning to cook...but also exploring the island for ourselves and our guests. 
At sunrise on our first morning in Chorafakia, Hollywood decided to get up before the sun and go for a run. He came back insane and jumped in the ice cold pool! How refreshing!
Here is one of our neighborhood goats, such a funny looking fellow. I named him George, and he was the only goat that would let me pet him.
These confused little rhino beetles decided to go for early morning kamikazi swims in the pool...I couldn't take the carnage!
On my solo trip to the south side of the island I encountered much traffic! ;]
And I discovered a high-flying, mating pair of condors...(that's my best guess)While I was away breaking my bum (it's a long story), Hollywood was busy learning to teach English with his knowledgeable mentor, Olga.
After just enough time for us to settle in, the Moms and Dads decided to stop in for a quick visit.
First off, was making coffee - a 2 man job!
5am adventures always include a mop - don't they? Well, only when a crazy powerful thunderstorm rolls through and floods the house! Yes - I slept through it!
The next day proved to be soggy down at the wharf, with debris strewn across the walk, and waves gushing into the enclosed area of the cafes.
Rain, rain, go away, come again another day!
The next day rain returned to Chania, but we escaped by heading to the Minoan ruins at Knossos, just outside of Heraklion.
We stopped for an early dinner in Heraklion, and managed more than 1000 steps out on the jetty where we discovered a ship waiting for passengers...
The 'rents were good enough to bring a few bottles of wine with them; add the challenge of Pictionary, and you have an evening full of discussions on style, strategy and laughter!
Here's Marmalade! He adopted Hollywood and I for our stay, and made regular visits to make sure we were having a good time! He got lots of love!
The day finally came when the grownups headed off into the wild blue yonder, and us kids were left to our adventuresome vices again!
Hollywood and I struck out to the south coast to check out the town of Hora Sfakia, and the castle that graces the beach. Hollywood also put in a couple hours behind the wheel of our standard rental - through a sleet/hail storm no less!
We also managed to creep - and take the plunge - into the beautiful Mediterranean at Stavros, with a little encouragement from Miss Kayleigh, of course. :]
Thus ends the story of Crete, a beautiful and educational palace! Hollywood was successful in his studies and is actively searching for willing students. Princess is still wondering why she didn't get the 'I can cook' gene, although her new Crete cookbook will help her on her way... Thanks Joy!
